San Andres, Providence and Santa Catalina
Part I
Unparalleled gift of nature
exuberant Caribbean gem
refuge of peace and serenity
where souls mingle as children
in playground of eternity
Where you can touch the stars
exacerbate the senses to communicate with gods
where creation in love forever lives
a point in the cosmos – a universe in our hearts
Symphony of sounds of the land
witnessing the round pregnancy of earth
blue lizards – black crabs dancing in the sand
San Andres, Providence and Santa Catalina
Part II
Felt hesitant to smell the coffee
to wake up and turn the page
perhaps it was inevitable
or required to expose the change
Inadvertently or brazenly locals and outsiders paved the way
for orchestrated waves of unscrupulous charade
right and left looting become normal practice of the day
Disdain- incompetence
complacency maybe to blame
inconceivable before misery and poverty
it is chosen to remain the same
disheartening and sad
how not to recognize
when so much is that bad
Wide open gates to fields
flooded by rampant corrupted dragons
eroding minds and souls
derailed train loose pollution wagons
Why do you look so exhausted and down
Blue lizard asked Black crab
my family was displaced
the damage is done
who would imagine
exiled in our own town
Confused and disoriented
Blue lizard evoked those days
when disastrous legacy
of cultural suppression
and environmental devastation
seemed to be so far away
Nostalgia of once a paradise
never suited to deserve
inhabitants may never realize
Resilient Blue lizard
a better future dare to anticipate
where the clouds of misfortune
will surely come to dissipate
