“La justicia es lo que el amor parece en público”, Cornel West. Precisamente el pasado lunes 20, Estados Unidos celebró el Día de Martin Luther King Jr., una conmemoración oficial en honor del fallecido líder de los derechos civiles en los Estados Unidos de Norteamérica. (English version below)
Uno de los legados de King es su visión del amor como fuerza motriz de la transformación social. En respuesta al odio, la discriminación, el rechazo y los malos tratos que sufrían los afroamericanos en Estados Unidos, King apeló a la conciencia del país para que abrazara el amor.
Es evidente que su concepción del amor estuvo muy influida por el fallecido líder de los derechos civiles Mahatma Gandhi, sobre todo durante su estancia en la India.
Estos dos destacados líderes de los derechos civiles conceptualizaron el amor como la fuerza y el instrumento primordiales para contrarrestar la desigualdad, la injusticia y la deshumanización que sufrían sus respectivas comunidades.
Por lo tanto, teniendo en cuenta la problemática que azota a la «comunidad amada» tal y como la articuló Martin Luther King, su solución para la crisis actual entre su pueblo no era la guerra ni la violencia, sino un enfoque diferente. Él se refirió a este enfoque como «amor» o, en este caso, «el poder del amor».
En una ocasión, expuso el siguiente argumento:
«El poder sin amor es imprudente y abusivo, y el amor sin poder es débil y pusilánime. El poder en su máxima expresión es el amor aplicando las exigencias de la justicia, y la justicia en su máxima expresión es el poder corrigiendo todo lo que se opone al amor».
Es difícil concebir una descripción más exacta de las circunstancias sociales, políticas y económicas del archipiélago de San Andrés, Old Providence y Santa Catalina que la que figura en la citada declaración de King.
Se ha observado que el ejercicio del poder se ha utilizado para controlar, manipular y desinformar a la población. Si el fundamento del poder fuera el amor, entonces estaría sujeto a ciertas restricciones en su aplicación abusiva actual.
Como en el caso de King, el poder del amor es el catalizador de la transformación social. Es el elemento fundamental para cualquier transformación social y el «Ungido», que ha sido enviado con este propósito, es la encarnación viviente de dicho amor.
En conclusión, es imperativo dirigir nuestra atención al Él e inspirarnos en su ejemplo y sus acciones ejemplares. Es a través de esta óptica que puede desatarse eficazmente el poder transformador del amor.

The Power of Love
“Justice is what love looks like in public” Dr. Cornel West. Precisely this past Monday, the 20th, the United States of America observed the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday, an official observance in honor of the late civil rights leader.
One of the legacies of Dr. King is his vision of love as the driving force for societal transformation. In response to the prevalent hatred, discrimination, rejection, and mistreatment experienced by African-descendants in America, Dr. King appealed to the conscience of America, urging it to embrace love.
It is evident that Dr. King's conception of love was significantly influenced by the late Civil Rights leader Mahatma Gandhi, particularly during his time in India.
These two prominent Civil Rights leaders conceptualized love as the paramount force and instrument to counteract the inequality, injustice, and dehumanization experienced by their respective communities.
Therefore, in view of the problematics plaguing the "beloved community" as articulated by Dr. King, his solution for the current crisis among his people was not war or even violence, but rather a different approach. Dr. King referred to this approach as "love," or, in this case, "the power of love."
On one occasion, Dr. King put forth the following argument:
“Power without love is reckless and abusive, and love without power is sentimental and anemic. Power at its best is love implementing the demands of justice, and justice at its best is power correcting everything that stands against love.”
It is difficult to conceive of a more accurate depiction of the social, political, and economic circumstances of the Archipelago of San Andres, Old Providence, and Saint Caitlina than the one articulated in the preceding statement by Dr. King.
It has been observed that the exercise of power has been used to control, manipulate, and misinform the public. If the foundation of power were to be love, then it would be subject to certain constraints on its current abusive application.
As with Dr. King, the power of love is the catalyst for social transformation. It is the foundational element for any societal transformation, and the 'Anointed One', who has been sent for this purpose, is the living embodiment of said love.
In conclusion, it is imperative to direct our attention to the "Anointed One" and draw inspiration from his exemplary model and actions. It is through this lens that the transformative power of love can be effectively unleashed.
