No nos hagamos el innecesario mal de ilusionarnos cada cuatro años esperando un mesías insular: a estas alturas ya es un masoquismo inútil. La política es el arte de disfrazar con tinte de decencia intenciones perversas y corruptas. Los últimos tiempos, en medio de delirios y falsas esperanzas, nos hemos enfermado con una depresión colectiva cada que pensamos en el futuro de las islas._(English version alow).
No es para menos, decir que el departamento ha mejorado es engañarnos: cada amanecer nuestros problemas se agudizan y el sentimiento de melancolía mancha de color tristeza el mar de los siete colores. Sin embargo, mañana está la oportunidad de que cambiemos el rumbo incluso si lo es sólo con pequeños pasos.
No hace falta recordar que las democracias fracasan cuando la ignorancia y el egoísmo son la ley general. El placer más grande de un corrupto es un pueblo iletrado, mientras que su mayor miedo es ver cómo se educa. Ser críticos no es un asunto de amargura, es una cuestión esencial para el funcionamiento de cualquier sistema que se reputa como democrático y la base de toda sociedad que anhela ser libre. No convirtamos la política en una fuente de pan y circo cuando es una vía para construir un mejor futuro.
Que este domingo, nuestro voto sea crítico. Que alcemos la voz en contra de aquellos quienes desfalcaron nuestras arcas. Seamos críticos hacia los enemigos de la prosperidad que merece este paraíso. En contra de aquellos que por años vieron la política como un medio de enriquecimiento y robaron todo menos nuestras voces. Que mañana el voto isleño sea un grito de resistencia frente a la corrupción cuyos artífices conocemos plenamente. Nunca normalicemos lo que no es normal e ignoremos lo que jamás debe ser ignorado.
La isla no necesita más políticos disfrazados de mesías. Necesita cultura, compromiso y respeto por el colectivo ciudadano. No podemos ser indiferentes ante la política cuando es ésta quien regula los aspectos más críticos de nuestras vidas, de lo contrario el precio a pagar es permitir que la ineptitud siga siendo quien nos gobierne.
Habrá esperanza siempre que exista un pueblo deseando el cambio. Es imposible que nuestros problemas se solucionen de la noche al amanecer. Sin embargo, cada día es una oportunidad de tomar un paso más hacia un rumbo diferente. Nuestra conciencia es nuestra más poderosa herramienta, capaz de tanto cambiar nuestro horizonte como empeorarlo. Por esto, mañana cada uno es dueño de su destino.

It goes without saying that democracies fail when ignorance and selfishness are the general law. The greatest pleasure of a corrupt person is an illiterate people, while his greatest fear is seeing how they become educated. Being critical is not a matter of bitterness, it is an essential issue for the functioning of any system that is considered democratic and the basis of any society that longs to be free. Let's not turn politics into a source of bread and circuses when it is a way to build a better future.
May this Sunday, our vote be critical. May we raise our voices against those who embezzled our coffers. Let us be critical of the enemies of the prosperity that this paradise deserves. Against those who for years saw politics as a means of enrichment and stole everything except our voices. May tomorrow the island vote be a cry of resistance against corruption whose architects we fully know. Let us never normalize what is not normal and ignore what should never be ignored.
The island does not need more politicians disguised as messiahs. It needs culture, commitment and respect for the citizen group. We cannot be indifferent to politics when it is the one that regulates the most critical aspects of our lives, otherwise the price to pay is to allow ineptitude to continue governing us.
There will be hope as long as there is a people wanting change. It is impossible for our problems to be solved overnight. However, every day is an opportunity to take one more step towards a different direction. Our consciousness is our most powerful tool, capable of both changing our horizon and making it worse. For this reason, tomorrow each one is the master of his destiny.
